There are many animals in our environment; some of them are dangerous while the others are not harmful and nice to become pets. Animals like the domesticated dogs and cats are often to become pets because they are much adaptive in the human environment.

There are also unusual animals that used to become pets. Among of these animals are the bearded dragons. The bearded dragons are a kind of lizards that are often kept as pets. This animals are very much popular especially among children because their friendly and calm characteristics, the reason that they can be easily cared for.

These animals are said to be a native from the central Australian desert. Because of the scarcity of the food of in the area, they were said to evolve as an omnivorous creatures, making them able to subsist in many food sources.

Younger Bearded dragons use to eat bugs and similar insects, while fully grown bugs use to eat leafy foods, they also eat meat occasionally. Their meat sources could be the worms, the crickets, the locust, and several others.

There are light and heat requirement when you are planning to pet a bearded dragon. They require about full spectrum of light in order for them to maintain a good health. The bearded dragon needs daylight; this could be between 12 to 14 hours. Exposing them to sunlight needs proper attention since too less or too much of this might causes a problem unto them with regards on their circadian rhythms as it might make them sick and lethargic.

Proper handling of these animals must be carefully done. One should make sure that their body should be well supported. They like their four limbs to be supported. It should also be consider that holding them in the part of their chest should be done with proper care since this condition might make them difficult to breath.

Some experts said that the suitable position or the comfortable position for these animals is for them to lie down on someone's arm or on someone's chest.

There are several illness associated with the Bearded Dragon. They are susceptible for several diseases such as the deficiency of calcium, some respiratory disease, the stomach impactions as well as parasitic diseases.

How long do bearded dragons live? It actually depends upon the environment that the animals live wherein nutrition and health is a big factor. Some bearded dragons live for 5 years, some for 8 years and some live for up to 10 to 12 years.
